READING AND WRITING

This class caters to children who already have an advanced and/or English mother tongue level but need to build up their reading and writing skills with a focus on phonics, sight words, spelling, grammar and punctuation and written expression.

ANGLOFUN READING & WRITING 1

(target age group 7-9)

For learners who are at the beginning of their reading and writing journey. This class builds the foundation for reading and writing by focusing on phonics, spelling, grammar, blending and decoding. The learners will analyze together in class many types of texts, take home one reader book per week and present the elements of the story to the class the following week.  The goal of this level is to help the learner increase reading confidence and fluency. You will be amazed how quick they progress through the reading levels from weekly reading and writing tasks. This class also focuses on teaching the foundations of writing skills. By the end the learner should be able to write full sentences, descriptions and short stories.

ANGLOFUN READING & WRITING 2

(target age group 8-10)

This class is a continuation of Reading & Writing I with the goal of advancing the learner’s reading level and comprehension to be able to read books of approximately 100-200 pages fluently and independently. It also focuses on increasing grammatical accuracy, punctuation, spelling and expression in writing. By the end learners should be able to write various types of text, with more complexity and expression.

ANGLOFUN READING & WRITING BOOKCLUB - 1 HOUR

(target age group 9-12)

A book club for advanced readers to read influential books that provide learners with the opportunity to think, reflect, and share in a creative and relaxed environment with the goal of promoting a lifelong love of reading and analytical thinking.

The learners can select books from a list of important pieces of literature written or adapted for their age group. They also have the opportunity to propose a book of their choice to the club. With the help of the facilitator, learners participate in a variety of activities and can even lead out in discussions.

Through creative writing tasks the club also aims to improve writing skills, expression, vocabulary and spelling.

INTRODUCTION TO ENGLISH

A fun interactive class of 1.5 hours which uses games, songs, stories, videos, movement and crafts focused on building English vocabulary, expressions and providing the building blocks to start making simple sentences. Come and learn with our puppet Megabyte and the series Shine On from Oxford University Press.  such as , “It’s a…”, “I am…”, “(S)He is….”,  This is/These are….”, “I can…..”, Let’s…” etc. The course also covers the English alphabet and phonemes to provide the basics for reading simple English CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words.

Shine On Books 1 & 2  For beginners who have started school and can or are beginning to write. Vocabulary themes in this class are greetings, colours, numbers, animals, family, feelings, house, school, clothes, action verbs etc.

Shine On Books 3 & 4 The continuation of books1 & 2 which builds on the acquired vocabulary and sentence structures already learned and includes vocabulary themes such as descriptions, word opposites, more animals, nature objects, professions, sports and more action verbs etc.
